Day 20 – Exodus 3: 1-6

Are you a person who lives for adventure, do you need to see what is around the next bend on a mountain walk despite the gradient? Well, join Moses, who had an insatiable curiosity and God knew it.

A burning bush with no sign of burning up attracted him and like the next bend he had to go and investigate. God knew Moses so well, He neatly manoeuvred him not only into a conversation but also onto his turf.

God called Moses by name, this was personal and he responded, “Here I am”. God calls us to respond to His compassion for those in misery, suffering and those crying out for release.

The burning bush was inexhaustible, living, warm and alive! The Holy Spirit in your life is living warm and alive with a rhythm that is synchronised to your beating heart. God’s beating heart is also in the Word of God (His turf) but you need to hear it and simply say “Here I am”.

Now before you think I cannot be a Moses, you can! Feel God’s heart beat and you will recognise where He wants you to be. It is in the day to day that we show God’s compassion by the actions we take. I once helped a lady who was struggling with a baby buggy up the steps at Baker Street tube station on my way back to work, she looked at me and said “You are a Christian aren’t you?” I said “yes” and we simply smiled.

Our mission is to walk towards His people, stand on His Holy ground inviting them to join us on His turf. Cross in faith to the other side of the road! He calls you by your name to be God’s person, in God’s time, in God’s place.

Dear Lord, How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”. Amen
