Elizabeth Alexander’s poem “I Believe” ends with the words “and are we not of interest to each other?” This has been a source of much reflection over the last months as we work with many non churched families in Stockton requesting baptism. In the light of this reading I offer this ..

   In One interested in us
   Breathing life
   Imprinted image
   Providing, purposing
   Co-working confidently
   Giving receiving

2. Interested
   In movement
   Gentle nudge
   familiar field
   Sudden shock
   Unfamiliar other
   Discerned, discovered, deposited

3. Interested
   In each other
   Crossing boundaries real perceived
   Whispered common words
   Mysteriously musing
   Echoing disparate experience
   Enriching together unconformity

4. Interested
   In the eternal
   Past presence
   Future focus
   Moment in time solidify
   Divine unscheduled appointed
   Transforming present

5. Interested
   Marking moment merging
   Tradition creative components
   Melding merging
   Honouring reality
   God with us

6. Interested
   In moving on
   Always alive
   Indebted
   In touch
   Through One
   interested in us
