Day 25 – Psalm 98
I am a Christian from Pakistan. I never knew that God will use me as an ordained minister in the Church of England. God chose people from all over the world. He moves them from everywhere to everywhere and “…if you [we] belong to Christ, then you [we] are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29).
Psalm 98 is a wonderful psalm that helps us realise about joy and excitement when we overcome our sins/mistakes. Sometime, God’s own chosen people may fall in the trap of evil. David was not a perfect King. He committed the heinous sin of murder and adultery (2 Samuel 11:5-27). But he came to God with a penitent heart and with a desire to be released from all the guilt. David reminds us about the new birth in Jesus. He testifies with joy the wonderful thing God has done by giving him a new life. He has gained his life back. His mission continues. He is encouraging people to sing a new song because God is victorious over evil and all those who follow Him will be victorious with Him when He judges the earth.
None of us are perfect. We are all fallible creatures. We all commit sin and fall short of the glory of God. We can consciously or unconsciously treat God lightly in everyday life. But if we come to Him with a penitent heart, He is always there to forgive us…while we were still sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). God still trusts us. We anticipate and proclaim the coming of God to rule his people.
Father God, grant me the courage to be bold in following in the footsteps of Jesus, even into places I fear, so that I may stand up for what is right and do Your will in all things. Amen
