Day 34 – Romans 10: 5-15

Published by tg50-james on

‘Would you like to join us for a coffee, it’s really cold out today?’ I asked the men from one of the motorcycle groups who meet down by the harbour. ‘Thank you, but we don’t feel that we should come into church, because people don’t like us that much or even want to understand us. Although most of us do have a faith, would you pray with us now, here?’

The message of good news in this passage is of salvation and inclusion for all (even bikers), not just for the certain few. It is about belief in your heart, and of the messages of faith that can be spoken from our mouths. The writer wants you to acknowledge the fact that it is to all people that faith can be professed, verse 11 states, “anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame”.

We understand how much it is part of our Christian life to welcome the stranger. As such, could we use the message from this passage to open up our thoughts, our minds, our mouths and our faith to share the love of God to whomever we meet, even to those in our society ‘who feel or suggest that they are not worthy?’

I hope that as we get out and about around the many different areas of our districts that we can take out with us a message and invitation of inclusiveness and salvation for all.

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news!” v15.

Loving Lord, may we always notice signs of your love and compassion, in both the stranger we meet and in ourselves.
