Day 7 – Acts 4: 32-35
The passage begins by telling us that the believers were of one heart and mind. They had contentment because they had faith in the Lord. The Apostles were still telling everyone about the resurrection of Jesus. As disciples, we too should be telling everyone about what the Lord has done for us.
Those who believed were willing to give up what they had. They were happy in their faith, trusted in God and knew where their priorities lay. As followers, do we know this? They gave their possessions to the disciples so that they could be shared amongst those in need. We only have to look at the news or even look at the need for food banks to see that not all things are equal in this world.
As followers of Christ and as a Church, are we of one heart and mind? Are we sharing our possessions and reaching out to those in need? Are we helping to create an equal world? Are we prepared to sell or share what we have? As followers, we need to reach out and help the persecuted, the poor and those who are lonely. We need to work with one heart and mind through Christ to create peace and equality throughout His world that He has given us.
Using those gifts that you have been given, step forward in faith and in unity to create a better world. Keep your focus on Him and not on earthly possessions.
Father God, help us to bridge divisions in Your world with love and compassion so that equality and peace can reign.
