Day 8 – 1 John 1:1 – 2:2
Have you ever been thrown in at the deep end? Have you ever been in a situation where you have been asked to say something about your faith and how you have come to be where you are? How did that feel? Were you ready?
Sharing faith is not an easy task because our journey can be personal and precious to us. We carefully choose what to say and prepare ourselves very well. However, is sharing faith just about what we say?
In this passage we find a message of hope and warning. It is clear, that our work will be fruitless if we don’t look at our lives and change when we need to. This passage calls us to be truthful. Are we honest about how we behave?
St. Francis of Assisi said that we should “preach the Gospel always and, if necessary, use words”. It’s our life, our selfless existence that truly tells people what it’s like to follow Jesus. Our receiving of Grace, the profound moment in our life, when we realise we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. It’s in this that we ought to realise that we sin and therefore truth is not in us.
God is light: in Him there is no darkness. Let us be bold in our life of mission to cling to the message of hope that we too can confess our sins and become the carriers of the message of hope to others. Jesus is Alive, in us and in you ….
Father God, we turn to You. Reveal in us what we need to change. Enable us to be people of example.
